Who this is for

This builder is for ordinary UK households who want a kit list that matches the people in the house, the place the kit will live, and a budget they will actually spend. It is useful if you are starting from scratch, or if you already own most of the list and want to see the gaps. Couples, families, people with a baby or pets, and anyone building a home kit, a boot kit or a grab bag can use the same four questions.

How it works

You answer four questions: who you are preparing for, where the kit needs to live, how long you want to be covered, and what you can spend. The list updates as you change answers. Quantities scale with the household. Location changes the job of the kit, so a car list is not a copy of a home list. When you are happy with the answers, you get a personalised checklist you can tick off against what you already own.

What you get

A specific list with a reason for each item, a quantity where it matters, and a guide price to help you budget. You can mark what you already have. The aim is to show the few genuine gaps, not to sell you a second tin opener. Suggested shops are a convenience. You can buy anywhere, or buy nothing.

Privacy note

There is no account and no sign-up. Your answers and the items you tick off stay in this browser. Nothing is sent to us. If you share the link to your list, anyone with the link can see those answers, so treat it like a note you chose to pass on.

Do I have to buy anything?
No. The list is useful if you never buy through this site. Tick off what you already own and deal with the genuine gaps when it suits you.
Can I build a car kit or a grab bag here?
Yes. Choose where the kit needs to live. A home kit, a boot kit and a grab bag are different jobs, so the list changes with that answer.
Where is my list saved?
In this browser only. There is no account. If you share the link to your list, anyone with the link can see those answers.
Is this official UK guidance?
